I don’t know about you, but I get stressed very easily in this thing called life!  Did you know that as we get older, our bodies are less able to manage stress?  This means that the more we stress as adults, the more we become a little older.  Excess stress can be detrimental to our health and affect how we age:

  • shrinks the brain, leading to dementia
  • ages the heart and can cause heart failure
  • weakens the bones (stress-induced osteoporosis)
  • makes you sick
  • increases belly fat
  • raises blood sugar, which can lead to diabetes
  • suppresses sleep

This is why it is SO important to try not to worry about “the small stuff.”  Other ways to de-stress include, redirecting your negative thoughts, taking deep breaths, exercising, meditating to mellow the mind, etc.
